The day before a guy was allegedly executed in a shooting gangland murder, a man was charged for appearing in a photo with a youngster carrying guns.
On May 22, NSW Police were looking into the alleged murder of Marvin Oraiha in Elizabeth Hills when they took six phones, a ballistic vest, and ammo from a house in Yagoona.
Several photographs showing a 21-year-old purportedly “holding two pistols in the company of a young child, who was also holding a third glock-style pistol” were discovered by detectives on the phones seized.
The photos, according to police, were taken on May 21, the day before Oraiha, 24, was fatally shot in the driveway of his home in south-west Sydney at around 4 o’clock.
Following a search of seven residences in Roselands, Edensor Park, Green Valley, Yagoona, Liverpool, Merrylands, and Guildford, a 22-year-old was charged with murder.
The 21-year-old was detained today at a residence in Yagoona, where the phone images allegedly were discovered.
He was accused of possessing an unauthorized firearm and providing a handgun to an unauthorized person, among other 13 firearm-related offenses.
The man is scheduled to show up in court today in Bankstown.
The arrest is a part of Task Force Magnus, which was created last week to combat crimes using firearms and look into connections between the recent string of shootings.
