In a suspected murder-suicide in Perth, a mother was discovered shot dead inside her home, and the body of her ex-partner was discovered in another burnt-out flat.
At around 10.40 am on Thursday, police discovered Georgia Lyall, 32, inside her home on Sabina Road in South Guildford after receiving reports of concerns for her wellbeing.
Emergency services were then summoned to a unit fire on Escot Road in Innaloo, 22 kilometers away, where they discovered a man’s death they thought to be her ex-partner Luke Noormets.
Noormets was allegedly discovered dead from a self-inflicted wound after the fire broke out.
Police are looking into the background of Noormets, who they believe to be a former Rebels candidate who was imprisoned for some years for kidnapping and torturing a heroin dealer because of an unpaid debt.
Police were able to immediately connect the address in South Guildford with the address in Innaloo, according to Detective Inspector David Gorton.
There may have been some telephone connections between the two, according to the investigations conducted thus far, Gorton said.
Police have spoken to the families of both deaths, and we believe that they are acquainted. Nevertheless, it is certainly upsetting for both families.
On social media, Lyall proudly referred to herself as a “mama”.
Lyall is remembered as a “beautiful, bright, and bubbly soul” by those who care for her at a fundraiser website for her family.
The crowdfunding page says about Georgia, “Fiercely loyal, independent, funny and caring, there wasn’t a day that went by where Georgia didn’t make a positive impact on someone’s life.”
“Our Georgia was selfishly and tragically murdered in her own home, and now those close to her must face the heartbreaking truth that life will never be the same again.”
As they attempt to piece together the events preceding the incident, detectives are looking into both properties.
