After allegedly shooting a man and burying him on a farm in NSW’s Hunter Region, a man has been charged with murder.
The body of John Simpson was discovered during a police search of a residence in Laguna, around 40 kilometres from Cessnock, and the 34-year-old was extradited from Victoria yesterday as a result.
When Simpson was reported missing to the police on Great North Road in Laguna, an investigation was launched. This prompted officers to examine a property and discover the body of the 42-year-old man in April.
According to NSW Police, Simpson suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Three weapons were discovered during a second search of the premises by strike force detectives on Tuesday, July 18, which led to their seizure for additional forensic analysis, according to a statement from NSW Police.
Then, a 34-year-old male in Victoria was the subject of an arrest warrant application that was approved.
A guy from Victoria has been extradited and accused of killing John Simpson in Laguna, close to Cessnock.
The man was discovered on Tuesday in the Melbourne neighbourhood of Carlton.
The man’s extradition to NSW was approved by Melbourne’s Magistrate Court after homicide investigators travelled there to request it.
He was charged with murder and having an unauthorised firearm when he was brought onto a flight to Sydney yesterday.
After being denied bail, the man is scheduled to show up in Downing Centre Local Court today.
