A month after comparable accusations against the Olympian were dropped, the ex-girlfriend of boxer Harry Garside will defend herself against domestic abuse allegations.
After police looked into a March 1 incident at a property in Sydney’s east for which Garside was initially charged, fitness influencer and self-described wellness coach Ashley Ruscoe was charged with stalking and assaulting the 25-year-old on July 12.
Garside claimed in the past that his solicitors gave police “recordings and communications” that revealed a different account of the events and exonerated him of all wrongdoing.
Ruscoe’s attorney Bryan Wrench, however, asserted at Downing Centre Local Court that this was untrue.
He stated on Wednesday that it was “quite important to put on the record (that) we received the so-called videos that clear his name.”

The 35-year-old’s attorney referred to the accusations as odd and unsettling.
In an argumentative exchange with Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson on Wednesday, he declared, “We are definitely pleading not guilty.”
The victim was allegedly Miss Ruscoe.
Completely unexpectedly, Miss Ruscoe has now been charged in connection with the same incident.
Garside’s Sunrise interview was also criticised by Wrench, who attempted to inform the court that Ruscoe would bring witnesses to “show (Garside) has a history of DV”
Atkinson, though, stopped him and told him that this was not the place for such sentiments.
The couple’s long-running saga has now seen a new turn with their court appearance.
Garside was detained on May 2 at Sydney Airport and charged with common assault in connection with domestic violence stemming from the same March 1 incident.
However, the 25-year-old boxer’s charge and application for an apprehended violence order were finally dropped in June.
On August 30, the case will be brought back before the court, and Ruscoe will not be required to show there.
