Following a six-car collision in Sydney’s north-west this afternoon, one person has lost their life and two others are critically injured.
Following the collision at around 1.30 pm, Eastwood’s Blaxland Road and First Avenue remain closed, and police are warning of significant delays.
One person was confirmed dead at the scene by NSW Police.
Police released a statement saying that two persons were brought to the hospital in critical condition and four others were treated for less serious wounds.
The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit’s specialised officers will investigate the crime scene that Ryde Police Area Command officers have set up.
Blood and urine tests will be administered to the two patients at the hospital.
Local traffic diversion routes are in place, according to police, but the road is still closed.
The area is to be avoided by drivers since long delays are predicted.
The circumstances of the collision are the subject of an investigation.
