Early this morning, a fire destroyed a property in Sydney’s southwest, killing an elderly couple.
At 6.45 this morning, emergency personnel were summoned to the fire on Lily Road in Wetherill Park, when they discovered the house completely flames.
The two residents, an 81-year-old man and a 75-year-old lady, were rescued from the house, but they later died from their wounds.
The fire was later put out by Fire and Rescue NSW, and police are investigating its origins there.
According to what is known, two neighbors helped the couple leave the home.
While the other neighbor was sent to the hospital for treatment, one of the neighbors is currently receiving treatment on site for smoke inhalation.
