In June, six young people who had all smoked nicotine vapes were brought to emergency rooms in NSW eight days apart.
According to a Sydney Morning Herald report, the patients’ symptoms included seizures, loss of consciousness, and vomiting.
Following the instances, which happened between June 21 and June 29, NSW Health sent a message to hospital doctors in the South West Sydney Local Health District to raise awareness among state physicians.
The majority of the occurrences, it is thought, took place in the south-west of Sydney.
According to a story in the Sydney Morning Herald, NSW Health thinks some of the vapes were bought from vendors on the social media site Snapchat.
Following examination, it was discovered that the vapes contained nicotine.
According to Australian law, nicotine vapes can only be acquired with a prescription.
Selling vapes to anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited.
In Melbourne in May, two high school kids who had a bad response to a vaping product were transported to the hospital.
