While carrying out a search warrant for an unrelated accusation at a private house in Sydney’s west, police uncovered a startling discovery.
Authorities in New South Wales were informed of numerous suspected domestic violence occurrences involving a man, age 21, and a woman, age 20.
The 20-year-old woman alleged that a man she knew repeatedly abused her and threatened to hurt her physically.
After being allegedly assaulted, slapped, and choked, the lady reported to police that she had been secretly recorded “during an intimate act” and that the man had threatened to release the evidence.
A multi-department police investigation was started as a result of the reports, and a search warrant was issued for a Chester Hill residence.
On Thursday, when searching the home, officers discovered multiple dead animals and animal skeletal remains inside a cold storage area.
Several deceased pet rabbits and a rabbit carcass were discovered during a search of the premises, according to NSW police. Police will claim that the guy killed the animals after growing upset with them, they added.
Two further rabbits were discovered alive in a cage by the police and were sent to the RSPCA.
The 21-year-old male was taken into custody and accused of many domestic violence offences in addition to a number of animal cruelty violations.
He is being held at the Bankstown Police Station and will be arraigned on 33 different offences, according to the police.
The man will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday after being denied bail.
