The tragic death of a “beautiful” eight-year-old kid from Melbourne’s west while on a family vacation has shocked the Caroline Springs neighborhood.
Mohammad Anwairi, a student at Creekside College, had just returned from a two-week trip to Afghanistan with his family—his mother, father, sister, and brother.
The fourth-grade youngster had a unique heart disease from birth and apparently passed away on Saturday from heart failure.
Tammy Callejan, a neighbor of the family, characterized the youngster as humorous and as having a “inseparable” bond with his younger brother Yousef, with whom he frequently played.
She told Herald Sun that “he was the most vivacious, funny, typical little boy who was always seen playing outside with his little brother Yousef every day.”
“The connection the two small ones shared was very lovely.
“Inseparable, always together, always having fun.”
After learning of his passing on Friday from Creekside College principal Gary Eckersall, the neighborhood is still in shock.
Mr. Eckersall wrote in a letter to parents, “He was a student who was well liked by all of the kids in his year level and will be mourned by the Creekside school community.
He suggested that parents sit down with their kids and assist them understand the news, since it is best delivered by close friends and family.
It is said that Mohammah’s funeral was held in Afghanistan in the presence of his bereaved relatives and friends.
