After an 87-year-old man passed away this morning while out on a walk in Queensland’s Noosa Heads, a 27-year-old guy has been brought into custody.
About six hours after emergency personnel were summoned to the scene on Hastings Street on Sunday morning, a Noosa resident passed away.
The man was discovered face up on a boardwalk path with significant facial injuries.
Less than a hundred metres from the crime site, police managed to capture the 27-year-old male.
Today, the man was accused separately with assaulting a 69-year-old man on Hasting Street at about the same time, according to police.
The Gympie man is still being held.
According to authorities, the two accused victims are not known to one another.
As they look into the death of the 87-year-old Noosa, detectives from the Sunshine Coast are pleading with members of the public to come forward with information.
“Officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man who was naked, or in various stages of undress, anywhere near the northern end of Hastings Street, or walking into the Noosa Woods pathways between 5am and 7am yesterday, to contact them,” according to police.
