Following a five-vehicle collision in Melbourne’s north, one woman has passed away and two other individuals have been taken to the hospital.
Police asked drivers to exercise caution in light of the escalating road fatality rate in Victoria today, saying that investigators are still working to find out what caused the collision on High Street in Reservoir at around 7.15 p.m. on Monday.
After losing control of her car and colliding with up to seven other vehicles, the woman died at the scene.
While others were being treated on the scene by emergency personnel, two more persons were brought to the hospital with significant injuries.
This year, there have been 143 traffic fatalities, up 34.9% from the same period last year.
Victoria Police Sergeant Ashley Hodge advised everyone to drive more slowly, pay attention to their surroundings, and show consideration for other road users.
We don’t want these situations to arise since everyone is impacted, even the first responders.
