A man drowns and two are saved as a small dinghy capsizes in choppy waters close to Port Douglas.
The boating mishap took place close to Double Island in Port Douglas.
Their small boat capsized last night in choppy waters close to Port Douglas in Far North Queensland, killing one man and saving two others.
The three guys were fishing when their 4.3-meter aluminium dinghy capsized, according to Queensland Police Sergeant Andrew Ibell.
Around 10 p.m., requests for assistance in the vicinity of Double Island were answered, alerting emergency services.
Cairns Water Police started an aerial search and a search and rescue operation.
According to the first information available, the ship overturned in choppy waters, and the guys stayed on board until they were saved, according to Ibell.

At around 12.45 a.m. this morning, police located an overturned boat and pulled two men, aged 24 and 26, from the water.
A 54-year-old Napranum resident’s body was found.
An investigation into the accident has been opened by the police.
Authorities have suspended their search for a 68-year-old woman who went missing after a different boat capsized in the Torres Strait.
On Thursday, the woman vanished after her boat capsized close to Mabuiag Island.
