Following the alleged discovery of $12 million worth of ice in a covert drug lab in south Sydney, police have charged two individuals.
To look into the significant commercial supply of illegal substances, the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad established Strike Force Maimura.
At around 6.20 p.m. on Tuesday, detectives carried out a search warrant at a residence on the Princes Highway in Kirrawee as a result of inquiries.
30 kilogramme of methylamphetamine powder, 600 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, and 1500 ml of liquid methamphetamine, according to authorities, were found during the raid.
The haul’s street value, according to the police, is $12 million.
The temporary lab was taken apart by specialised police from the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Unit, Forensic Evidence and Technical Service, Technical and Forensic Support Unit, and Fire and Rescue NSW HAZMAT team.
Two men, 24 and 29, ran away from the site on foot before being apprehended close by a short while later.
They were escorted to Sutherland Police Station, where they were charged with three charges of massive commercial supply of forbidden narcotic as well as drug manufacture.
Bail was denied for both men to show up before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
