After being allegedly punched by another man on the Gold Coast, a man passed away in the hospital.
On Saturday night, at around 9.20 p.m., Michael Hayes, 39, exited the Destino restaurant on Hope Island and was overheard talking to a man outside.
Hayes “collapsed to the ground” as a result of the man’s “one blow to the head,” according to police detective inspector Chris Ahearn, before the attacker departed the scene.
Hayes was sent to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries, where he passed away this morning.
According to reports, the male is Caucasian, between the ages of 20 and 30, and has short, dark hair.
He was allegedly carrying an over-the-shoulder backpack, dark tracksuit pants, and a dark long sleeve shirt.
In order to further their investigation, police are looking for CCTV.
