After police discovered a woman’s death in an apartment in western Sydney, a man accused of assault, stalking and choking will continue to be held in custody for the time being.
On Saturday, Danny Zayak, 28, was taken into custody at the Liverpool flat complex where Tatiana Dokhotaru’s body was also discovered.
He is accused of 18 different offences, including assault, stalking/intimidation, choking without permission, and violating an AVO. He has not been put on trial for the murder of Dokhotaru.
Stuart Smith, the assistant commissioner, had stated that additional charges could not be ruled out.
On Monday, Zayak appeared at Liverpool Local Court but did not request bail.
On June 2, though, a bail review has been planned at the same court.
At around 11.45 p.m. on Friday, police received an anonymous triple zero call reporting an alleged domestic conflict at a Liverpool flat building.
The frantic caller did not give her home location.
Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, the police were called to the apartment complex, but they were unable to locate the apartment where the event had taken place.
Investigations into who had made the call went on all day Saturday, according to the police.
Police were summoned back to the Liverpool flat block at 8 p.m. on Saturday, where they discovered the body of the 34-year-old.
To look into the woman’s death, local investigators will collaborate with the homicide unit under Strike Force Midian.
