A crocodile assaulted a man in his fifties yesterday while he was on vacation in Far North Queensland.
At around 2:00 pm, a crocodile attacked the man while he was snorkeling with a group of tourists around 28 kilometers off Haggerstone Island.
The incident left him with severe wounds, including cuts and bruises on his face.
The tourist group, which was made up entirely of residents of Brisbane, was able to get the man back onto the boat and then to land, where they were able to stop the bleeding.
He was in a stable condition and in excellent spirits when he was evacuated to Thursday Island Hospital.
Cairns and Haggerstone Island are separated by 600 kilometers.
