Chinese envoy requests that Australia step up its search for 39 people who are on a capsized fishing boat in the Indian Ocean

প্রকাশের তারিখঃ

A Chinese representative has asked Australian authorities to step up their search operations in the Indian Ocean for 39 crew members who are still missing after a Chinese fishing boat capsized.

The Australian government, according to the ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian, has already dispatched four planes and three ships to the search area in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
Life rafts and survivors have not been found.

Following the Tuesday capsizing, Xiao stated that China wants to work with “friendly countries” such as Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives on the search and rescue operation.

The overturned hull was reportedly discovered on Tuesday from a cargo ship 5000 kilometers northwest of Perth, according to the search coordinator, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

According to Chinese police, the missing crew consists of five Filipinos, 17 Indonesians, and 17 Chinese.

The Australian government, to whom Xiao made reference, “we wish that they could send more — more aircraft, more ships, and more staff,” Xiao told reporters.

In order to aid in the search and rescue effort and preserve as many lives as possible, “We wish that our Australian colleagues would coordinate with other international or foreign vessels or ships near that area.”

Xiao’s response came after Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, commended the search efforts of the Australian government.

Wang stated on Wednesday that “Chinese and foreign vessels have arrived at relevant waters and the search and rescue operation is intensifying.”

“More assistance is on its way. In order to find those who have vanished, we shall keep collaborating with the pertinent parties.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Australian marine search and rescue department for sending an aircraft and organizing passing foreign vessels to assist in the search and rescue operations.

“We sincerely hope that neighboring nations would keep helping with our search and rescue efforts. As long as there is a chance to save lives, we won’t give up.

Chinese diplomats, the agriculture and transportation ministries, as well as President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang, were instructed to help in the hunt for survivors on Wednesday.

Additionally willing to assist in the search are Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. On Wednesday, merchant and fishing vessels in the vicinity looked for survivors.

According to the search authority, a 12,000 square kilometer area south of where the overturned hull was discovered was still the focus of a global search effort on Thursday.
Nuclear missiles from Pakistan, Russia, and North Korea.

The authority announced in a statement that a chartered aircraft headquartered in Perth and an Australian military P-8A Poseidon aircraft would re-join the search after spending the night in the Maldives. Three Chinese naval ships continued the search while Australia was in communication with the Chinese Maritime Rescue Coordination Center.

The statement read, “A number of merchant ships and other vessels have been assisting with the search and will do so today.”

The number of ships and aircraft taking part in the search was kept a secret by the authority.

In an email, the authority stated, “We are not releasing that amount of detail at this stage.

According to her office, Transport Minister Catherine King, who oversees the search authority, was out of the country and unavailable for comment.

On what caused the ship to capsize, nothing was said.

According to sources, the Lu Peng Yuan Yu 028 capsized vessel belonged to the Penglai Jinglu Fishery Co. Ltd. and was based in Shandong’s eastern coastline province.

According to Indonesian authorities, another Chinese vessel, Lu Peng Yuan Yu 018, is operating close to the capsized hull and has been tasked with conducting a grid search for survivors.
