In Victorian wilderness, a woman who had been missing for five days was discovered to be alive.
After spending five days in the wilderness, Lillian Ip was discovered in deep forest close to Bright by the police helicopter.
According to police, the 48-year-old was traveling to Dartmouth Dam when she took a mistake turn down a dead end, causing her car to become stuck in the mud as she attempted to reverse.
She was lost 60 kilometers from the closest settlement.
She was forced to spend five days alone with her car in the hopes that someone would find her because she had no access to mobile service and only a bottle of wine and some little food.
She was unable to try and walk for help due to health difficulties, so she stayed with her car, according to Sergeant Martin Torpey of the Wodonga Police Station.
She had barely packed a few snacks and candies for her one-day excursion and left her water bottle at home.
She was quite glad and delighted to see us after spending five days lost in the wilderness, and we were as happy to see her.
Ip didn’t call her family on a daily basis, so on April 30 someone reported her missing.
Before a police helicopter found her car today while executing a sweep over the Mitta Mitta bushlands, police searched the Mitta Mitta, Wodonga, Bright, and Albury areas.
The local police van was then sent in her direction by the aircraft.
Dehydration is being treated for her as she is being observed at the hospital.
