Mahmoud “Brownie” Ahmad was shot to death in Sydney last year, and two additional individuals have been accused in connection with the incident.
On April 27, 2022, Ahmad, 39, was shot on a Greenacre street in the city’s southwest.
Police today announced the arrests of two additional males, bringing the total number of men charged in relation to the alleged gangland shooting to four.
In raids this morning in Clemton Park and Campsie, two men, both 33, were detained.
Both have been transported to Campsie Police Station, where they are aiding with investigations.
According to the police, the man from Clemton Park assisted in moving cars following the suspected incident.
He is accused with 16 offenses, including accessory to murder after the fact.
The Campsie man was accused with 15 offenses, including intentionally supervising a gang’s operations.
Further allegations include that both men supplied 1 kg of methylamphetamine and 1.1 kg of cocaine, with a combined street value of $3 million, throughout Sydney’s south-west.
According to police, investigations into the killing of Ahmad also revealed intentions for a different murder, which were thwarted.
Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Weinstein stated today that “during our investigations, we uncovered evidence that they were planning to commit another murder – we have essentially stopped that murder from occurring.”
The police revealed CCTV last month that captured the moment Ahmad was shot to death.
Before two bursts of gunfire are seen, the underworld figure is seen being driven past by a stolen Porsche in the video.
Later, a burned-out wreck of the allegedly involved car was discovered.
It was a “violent and callous” shooting, according to Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, commander of the homicide squad.
“He was sprayed with a number of bullets, which killed him,” he claimed.
It was really an indiscriminate shooting because there may have been other victims in the street.
The courts are still hearing cases involving the other four males who had been accused—ages 26, 29, 37, and 49.
Bail was not granted for the two 33-year-old men to appear in Bankstown Local Court tomorrow.
