At a drag racing event in central Victoria, a motorcyclist died.
Around noon today, the tragedy occurred at Heathcote Park Raceway near Bendigo, and the 48-year-old man was not able to be saved by paramedics.
Lance Warren, the owner of Heathcote Park Raceway, announced the death in a social media post.
Warren posted on Facebook, “It is with great sadness that I must inform you that a fellow racer passed away today at our Sunday Test & Tune.”
In relation to the incident, Warren noted that the raceway and the International Hot Rod Association Australia were both cooperating with the police and other authorities.
The racers’ (sic) family’s well-being is our top priority, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them at this difficult time, Warren stated.
When we know the conclusion of the investigation, we’ll provide an update on the occurrence.
