In Townsville, Queensland, a man was shot by police and died as a result.
Yesterday around 4:55 p.m., the 52-year-old man was shot at a residence on Bel Air Avenue in Kirwan after police were alerted to complaints of a self-harm threat.
The man allegedly “advanced at” police officers before being shot.
Despite receiving prompt first treatment and CPR, the man passed away at the spot.
Police are looking into the incident, and they plan to make a statement later this morning.
The Crime and Corruption Commission will oversee the probe while the Ethical Standards Command conducts an investigation into the shooting on behalf of the State Coroner.
Since October, there have been six deadly police shootings in Queensland.
