After her husband, a 35-year-old father of six, was murdered in a car accident in Sydney, his devastated wife paid homage to him.
Nour Mabany was a passenger when a Holden truck and a Hyundai i30 crashed just after 5 p.m. on Saturday in Sydney’s West. Police are looking into whether drag racing occurred before the collision.
Before the collision, which occurred at 5 p.m. on Saturday, witnesses claimed to have heard two cars speeding.
On the one-lane Hawksview Street in Merrylands, the black Commodore ute was seen swerving around a truck while being closely followed by a sedan.
The ute, believed to have been driven by Nour’s brother Mohamad, 23, clipped a Hyundai i30 making a u-turn before flipping and ramming into a Toyota Hilux that was parked.
“We saw the big black car had flipped upside down, with three other cars around it,” said Carol Malouf, a resident.
Malouf reported hearing people “screaming and shouting” for help in trying to free him.
He couldn’t move, according to Jemma Achi, a different local woman who sat with him and comforted him just before he passed away.
“I sat with him, telling him it was going to be okay,” she recalled.
Nour’s wife claimed to have been “shattered into a million pieces” by her husband.
She posted on Facebook, “I pray I can be strong enough to raise your six kids.”
The man inside the white hatchback and the 23-year-old ute driver were both transported to Westmead Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and required testing.
Police are currently looking into whether Mohamad was driving too fast or perhaps drag racing the following black vehicle.
On Sunday afternoon, he was questioned by crash investigators at the Granville police station before being let go without being charged.
Residents claim that the section is frequently utilized as a “race track” and have pushed for safety measures.
