In Darwin, a street battle was captured on camera, with some of the participants brandishing tiny axes.
It happened in the midst of a violent weekend in the towns and cities of the Northern Territory, prompting police to send more officers to the broader Darwin area yesterday due to a number of crimes.
According to 2GB, NT businessman Darren Clarke urged Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to visit the region’s north to witness the difficulty that residents were going through.
In a recorded message, Clarke stated, “If you’re listening, mate, this would have been a terrific weekend to come up.”
“We could have sat here and I could have told you some stories about what’s happening while we waited for what would eventually happen.
“Something needs to change up here, mate,” the speaker said.
Between 10.30 p.m. on Friday and 5 a.m. on Saturday, three stolen cars were allegedly used in five illegal entries and one attempted illegal entry.
According to Palmerston police, someone broke into two petrol stations, a licenced premise, and a company.
At a Palmerston petrol station shortly after 5 a.m., a different automobile allegedly was stolen.
The family in the car is said to have been pushed out before the suspect fled while driving.
According to police, he struck another vehicle while travelling on the wrong side of the road.
A man in his 30s has been detained.
