In an attack at a school in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a teacher was fatally stabbed; three other teachers and two kids were also hurt.
The knife attack at the Thomazia Montoro public school on Monday at around 7:20am local time (10:20 GMT) has been blamed on a 13-year-old student, according to authorities.
Tarcisio Gomes de Freitas, the governor of Sao Paulo state, tweeted that the suspect had been caught. There is yet no documented reason.
In his blog entry, de Freitas stated, “I have no words to express my anguish.
Elisabete Tenreiro, a 71-year-old science instructor who died in the incident, was also mentioned, and he expressed “great regret and sadness” over her passing. Authorities claim that Tenreiro died from a cardiac attack after being stabbed.
In honor of Tenreiro, three days of mourning have been declared. Authorities reported that four nearby hospitals were providing care for the injured instructors and pupils.

Guilherme Derrite, the secretary of public safety for Sao Paulo, praised the physical education teacher for his “heroic efforts” in “immobilizing” the adolescent suspect and preventing “a worse catastrophe.”
A 13-year-old pupil from the school claimed in an interview with the Associated Press news agency that Tenreiro had interfered in a dispute between the suspect’s classmate and another student the week before.
He stated that the suspect expressed resentment toward Tenreiro and threatened to take action in response to the instructor’s behavior.
The pupil reported that the suspect attacked the instructor from behind on Monday morning while wearing a skull mask.
According to the Brazilian daily Folha, the suspect used the Twitter handle “Taucci” to post messages that appeared to be in reference to a school shooting that occurred in Suzano, a neighborhood outside of Sao Paulo, in March 2019.
There, Guilherme Taucci Monteiro, 17, and Luiz Henrique de Castro, 25, two former classmates, opened fire at the Raul Brazil State School, murdering five students and two staff members before committing suicide. Eleven additional students suffered injuries.
Later, according to investigators, Monteiro and Castro were motivated by the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, which was the bloodiest school shooting in American history at the time.
Since then, the shootings at Robb Elementary School in 2022, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018, and Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 have surpassed it.
On Monday morning, the same day as the incident in Brazil, there was another school shooting in the United States, this time in Nashville, Tennessee. In that attack, six individuals were slain, including three kids.
Also, the Monday event in Brazil occurs only a month after a teacher in southwest France was fatally stabbed by a 16-year-old pupil.
According to Brazilian authorities, the 13-year-old suspect in Sao Paulo looked up online firearm purchases prior to the stabbing.
