In Sydney’s Inner West, an apartment building caught fire, leaving one person dead and a number of others missing.
Around 6am, a “bomb” on the ground floor of the complex on Young St in Croydon caused a fire, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
About 30 individuals were brought out of the building, according to Superintendent Adam Dewberry, with two of them receiving medical attention from ambulance personnel, and at least one being sent to the hospital.
Investigations are being done as there is yet no indication of what started the fire.
It serves as a timely reminder that fires can occur in any community at any time, according to Dewberry.
Smoke alarms are crucial in this situation.
For the remainder of the morning and day, the roadway will probably stay closed.
According to Dewberry, Fire & Rescue will try to support those who need alternative housing.
