Twelve spectators from last night’s A-League match between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City have been asked to leave.
To prevent the pandemonium at the previous derby in December, when hundreds of fans surged onto the pitch at AAMI Park 20 minutes in, there was a sizable police presence at the game.
A representative for the Victoria Police stated that they were “generally pleased” with the attendance at the game.
Police did however expel 12 people due to inappropriate or obnoxious behavior, and one guy was detained for driving under the influence.
This occurs as a video that has been going around on social media shows a man being hauled out of the stands by police while onlookers threw beverages at them.
Victory prevailed over Melbourne City 3-2 to take the victory.
