Damien Tudehope, a New South Wales MP, acknowledged having Transurban stock while serving as the state’s finance minister.
Tudehope asserts that he was unaware that he owned the shares and that they were a portion of his family’s superannuation fund.
If he has violated the Ministerial Code of Conduct, he has written to premier Dominic Perrottet to ask for clarity.
Tudehope added, “I didn’t know the Transurban shares were in that fund.
He said that he fulfilled his duty to the premier by providing the required details, including a printout of the fund.
“I would have declared it if I had known that my family’s superannuation fund owned shares in Transurban.”
According to Tudehope, he discovered he had been inadvertently owning the shares since 2014 two days ago, and this morning he sold them.
He claimed that his shareholdings had no influence on the decisions made on the NSW toll relief rebate.
“The value of such shares has increased from 2014 to the present.
“I am unsure of the precise profit. It’s probably around $6000.
He declared that he would give all of his earnings to charity.
Perrottet has not yet responded to the code violation.
Australian-owned Transurban constructs and manages toll roads throughout Australia, the US, and Canada. It is the owner of concessions at WestConnex, NorthConnex, and the M2 in Sydney.
