After getting into a “scuffle” with locals over an alleged attempted car break-in in Melbourne’s north, a guy was arrested and later killed.
Two residents have been questioned by homicide detectives into the 24-year-death old’s yesterday after 2:30 pm on Hothlyn Drive in Craigieburn.
The individual was reportedly seen trying to break into a car on the residential street at 2.30pm, according to police reports.
Residents allegedly confronted the man after that, and “a brief altercation erupted,” according to police.
After being detained and given medical attention, he lost consciousness and passed away there, according to the police.
To ascertain the cause of death, police are awaiting the findings of an autopsy.
A 72-year-old and a 33-year-old man from Craigieburn were taken into custody at the site but released awaiting additional investigations.
As investigations continued, officers stayed on the scene far into the night with a sizable portion of the road still blocked off.
