Rajwinder Singh will be extradited to Australia to stand trial for the murder of Cairns resident Toyah Cordingley, according to a Delhi court’s decision.
The Indian Government will now need to approve the order.
After a four-year search, Singh, an Australian citizen, was apprehended by Delhi police in December.
After a four-year manhunt that started when Singh, an Australian citizen, boarded a flight from Australia just hours after Cordingley’s body was discovered partially buried in sand on Wangetti Beach, Delhi police finally captured Singh in December.
Singh is wanted by Australian police to answer questions about whether he stabbed Cordingley following a dispute over her dog howling at him.
The 24-year-old drugstore employee had “obvious, traumatic injuries,” according to the police.
Singh stated in a previous hearing that he intended to go back to Australia to fight the charges and was aware that he could receive a life sentence if found guilty.
Singh worked as a nurse in Innisfail, Australia, with his wife and three children.
