As the country struggles with a rise in instances, any visitor from China seeking to visit Australia will soon need to test negative for the coronavirus.
Beginning on January 5, travelers must undergo a Covid test within 48 hours of departure and provide proof of a negative result in order to enter Australia. This requirement was announced on Sunday by Health Minister Mark Butler.
According to Mr. Butler, the modification was made due to a “overabundance of caution” and the “lack of thorough information” coming from China.
According to Mr. Butler, “The decision to adopt these interim limits has been decided out of an abundance of caution, taking into mind the dynamic and evolving situation in China and the possibility for new variations to emerge in an environment of high transmission.”

According to Mr. Butler, Australia continues to ‘warmly’ welcome any visitors from China.
Along with visitors from the Chinese mainland, the required testing will also be applied to visitors from Hong Kong and Macau.
