Following the death of a young man in Lorne this evening, the police will write a report for the coroner.
According to information provided to police, the adolescent was one of three young guys body surfing near Cumberland River Beach, where the Cumberland River meets the ocean, when one of the men encountered trouble just before 6 o’clock.
Before all three of the men ran into trouble, the two other men made an effort to help.
Before collapsing and needing help, the trio managed to make it to shore.
Before ambulance personnel arrived, an off-duty doctor, an observer, police, and Surf Life Rescue administered CPR and gave the men first aid.
Sadly, a 19-year-old man from St. Albans passed away there.
The second male has been airlifted to a hospital in Melbourne and is said to be in a bad condition.
A local hospital was visited to provide medical attention for the third young man.
