With six fatalities on New South Wales roadways in the previous 48 hours, the holiday weekend has already proven to be deadly.
The most recent incident happened last night at 8.20 p.m. on South Creek Road in Cromer on Sydney’s Northern Beaches when a car struck a parked boat.
The Holden station wagon’s front seat occupant passed away at the site.
Although his family has not yet revealed his identity, the man is thought to be 29.
Despite not suffering any injuries, the 56-year-old driver was brought to the hospital for required testing.
As the authorities look into the collision, he was released.
Around 3.30 p.m. on Monday, a 95-year-old woman was struck and killed at the intersection of Lopez Lane and Raymond Street in Bankstown.
Charges of risky driving resulting in death and negligent driving resulting in death have been brought against the 66-year-old male driver of the car, whose license has now been suspended.
He was given a bail hearing for the following year.
A 56-year-old man was killed at Rand, 70 kilometers north of Albury, at 5.35 am yesterday when his silver sedan left the road and struck a tree.
A six-year-old boy was killed when a Toyota Hilux rolled over as it was traveling along Moulamein Road at Moulamein in the state’s west at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
A four-year-old kid who was also in the vehicle was injured and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A motorcyclist, who is said to be 19 years old, was flung off his bike at 4.30 on Thursday after colliding with the back of a lorry on Richmond Road in Berkshire Park.
He was knocked into the path of oncoming traffic and hit by a truck. On the spot, he passed away.
On Thursday at 6.45 p.m., a Ford Fiesta and a Mazda BT50 ute collided on Mulgoa Road in Mulgoa, killing the female sedan driver.
Due to the recent deadly accidents, NSW Police is warning drivers to exercise caution when driving throughout the holiday season.
“When getting behind the wheel, folks are urged to keep others in mind. Speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and using a phone while driving are all examples of irresponsible behavior that can have a significant negative impact on your own life or the life of another road user “Brett McFadden, assistant commissioner, stated.
“We all want to enjoy this holiday season, and by using the roads responsibly, you are assisting others in getting to their destinations safely and reducing road trauma,” the statement reads.
