Labor leader Anthony Norman Albanese is campaigning for Australia’s next prime minister. He has been the Member of Parliament for the last 28 years in a seat in Sydney’s Inner West.
Grayndler MP Anthony Albanese, the federal opposition leader, is leading the Labor Party in the May 21 federal election.
Anthony Albanese began his parliamentary career in 1997. He was then elected MP from the Grayndler seat in Sydney’s Inner West.
That’s where he grew up. His mother was a single mother.
He led the party after the Australian Labor Party lost the 2019 federal election. He said he would hold Prime Minister Scott Morrison accountable. But not in the same negative way as former opposition leader Tony Abbott.
In his long political career, he held several important positions, including being a short-lived Deputy Prime Minister.
He was also in charge of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy.
In the May 21 federal election, Anthony Albanese said he wanted voters to know he had a plan for Australia’s future.
