The hugely popular Ramadan Nights market returned for the first time in two years after pandemic. this is One of the Sydney’s biggest annual cultural celebrations in Lakemba.
This is the holy month of Ramadan, Ramadan is the most blessing month of the year in Islamic culture. The month of Ramadan is spent by people of Muslim’s faith fasting during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset.
One million people expected to converge on Haldon Street and Railway Parade, Lakemba, Located in the heart of Greater Sydney.
At the end of each day’s fast, Muslims gather for Iftar, the evening meal to break their fast. It is a gathering for a meal with family and friends – plus, in this case, the thousands of others who head to Lakemba each evening during the holy month.
Bright lights spilling from shops and restaurants to the crowded footpath. Pop-up food stalls line on the street. People strolling from stall to stall tasting delicacies from around the world.
Dozens of food stalls, trucks, barbeques, grills are popping up on Lakemba’s main street and it runs late every night during this month. It’s already proving a bumper year, with varieties of cuisines including Middle Eastern knafeh, falafel, curries, Syrian sweets, Bangladeshi biryani, flame-licked skewers, camel burgers and so much more.
One of the Bangladeshi Restaurant “Dhanshiri” providing $30 buffet meal which included iftar and dinner together. Mostly, Bangladeshi people making a huge gathering in it-for this special offer with their family and friends to enjoy this rich treat.
The Ramadan Night markets are often busy and public transport is recommended. FREE Shuttle Bus provided to Haldon Street. The Service starts from 6.30pm with the final drop-off time at 2am.
The celebration started from Saturday April 2 and will finish on May 1.
