Sri Lanka imposes a curfew in protest of food, fuel and electricity shortages

In Sri Lanka, a 36-hour curfew has been announced due to a state of emergency in the midst of fierce protests against food and fuel shortages. The move aims to stop new protests two days after a crowd was accused of setting fire to a vehicle near the president’s mansion. troops have been deployed and are authorized to arrest suspects without a warrant.
