A man has been charged with the murder of a lady who was reportedly murdered in her Melbourne home over the weekend.
Worried relatives went to check on 35-year-old Nikkita Azzopardi’s home in South Morang yesterday morning and discovered her body.
Her two-year boyfriend, Joel Micallef, was brought to the hospital for a medical evaluation after being arrested at the scene.
The 35-year-old Nikkita Azzopardi and her boyfriend were apprehended following her body being discovered this morning in South Morang, a neighborhood in Melbourne’s northeast.
From the comfort of his bedside this afternoon, he was charged with a single murder offense.
Tomorrow, Micallef will be required to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court after being remanded in custody.
Police spent the most of the day conducting ongoing investigations into the shooting death of the 35-year-old at the Reid Street townhouse.
This afternoon, Shaun Azzopardi, her brother, and other relatives went back to retrieve Ms. Azzopardi’s vehicle and possessions.
After she failed to appear at a family cookout and remained uncommunicated since Saturday, Mr. Azzopardi stormed into the property yesterday and made the terrible discovery.
Among Australian women, Ms. Azzopardi is the 71st victim this year.
“I never thought it would happen in this area because it’s a very, very quiet area, very quiet,” exclaimed Con Oppolito, a neighbor.
