In remembrance of a young couple who tragically lost their lives in a horrible shooting in South Australia three years ago, their parents are getting ready to run in the most famous marathon in the world.
Lukasz Klosowski’s father shot and killed Chelsea Ireland and Lukasz in the southeast of the state in 2021.
In remembrance of their children, Greg, Chelsea’s dad, and Magda Pearce, Lukazs’s mom, are training to run 42.5 kilometers together in the New York Marathon.
I think they are important.
They hold enduring significance.
Magda simply wanted them to be remembered for their true selves.
“Yeah, they were just two beautiful people,” replied Greg.
They have managed to raise $22,000 for the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation in the little over three weeks leading up to the marathon.
As they work through their own loss, they feel compelled to do what they can to bring attention to and funding for mental health initiatives.
Following their deaths, I distinctly recall inquiring with Debra and Greg… Magda asked, “Do you ever think that or even wish that they never met?” with an apology for the intrusive question.
“And both of you said at the same time, never because Lukaz showed Chelsea love.”
