A 17-year-old teenager was transported to the hospital in critical condition following a violent altercation during a football final in Adelaide on Saturday.
The U17 grand final between Angle Vale and Two Wells at Hamley Bridge Oval became out of control when players got into a brawl during the contest.
“It was fairly pushy. There was a lot of pushing and shoving, and I saw a few of punches thrown,” said spectator Jack Martin.

“He came off and was a little dazed, and then I’m not sure, and then he just collapsed,” Angle Vale player Jack Pessano explained.
The match was postponed for about an hour as ambulances, professional paramedics, and an emergency Medstar team were dispatched.
He was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where he is now in an induced coma.
“It seemed serious. “They had the covers over him and everything so no one could see him,” Two Wells player Harrison Devlin explained. “It’s quite scary. “Knowing that could happen to one of my great friends with whom I play football is very scary,” Pessano added.
According to some witnesses, Nau was hit behind the scenes during the play.
“We don’t know if it was a hit or an accident,” Adelaide Plains Football Club president Michael Vigor stated.
“We don’t condone violence; we understand that everyone wants to win the game, but it’s just that little bit of going overboard sometimes where you’ve got to settle everyone down,” Two Wells Football Club player Jackson Harnas explained.
Members of the Two Wells team also suspect Nau sustained another head injury earlier in the game and wonder why he is still on the ground.
“After the first incident, I couldn’t believe they let him back on.
Harnas questioned why they reinstated him, especially given the league’s higher-up rule.
