A smoke store in Melbourne’s north-west has been targeted with bullets in the latest incident in the city’s tobacco turf warfare.
Last night, a black automobile was seen scouting Belair Avenue in Glenroy before several rounds were fired at the tobacco business.
Before law enforcement came, a number of persons inside the vehicle fled the area.
Detectives flooded the scene before marking gunshot holes and collecting evidence.
A burnt-out automobile was later discovered at Moonee Ponds, and police are investigating whether it is linked.
The smoking business has been targeted before.
Three persons torched a van parked outside last month, and three adolescents were detained and charged with setting fire to the store in May.
Residents are fed up with the incidents that have occurred.
“A lot of this stuff has to stop really, there’s just too much stuff going on, it’s just getting really bad,” a resident commented.
“Something needs to be done to crack it,” another person added.
The attack is the latest in Melbourne’s increasing tobacco war, which has targeted over 100 companies since March last year.
Victoria Police’s Lunar Taskforce has made 84 arrests as part of its campaign on the illegal tobacco business.
