After neighbors alerted emergency services, a car and corpse were found in a dam in Perth’s eastern suburbs.
Around 10 p.m. yesterday, according to the police, a blue Mitsubishi Lancer hatchback exited the road close to the intersection of Forrest Street and Eason Road in Sawyers Valley and collided with a dam on a private property.
A short while later, the Department of Fire Emergency Services, St. John WA, and local police arrived at the scene.
Water police searched the dam using an underwater drone, but the weather forced them to halt the operation.
At eleven a.m. today, police divers went back to the spot, and the automobile was taken out of the dam.
Inside the car, officers subsequently found the body of a 34-year-old man.
Mark News Perth was informed by neighbors that they heard a big bang last night and dialed Triple Zero out of anxiety for what might have happened.
Near the scene, debris and tire marks were discovered by emergency crews.
One neighbor told Mark News Perth, “I just heard a sort of swooshing sound as a car came down Stephens Street.”
“The dam is roughly three meters deep, very murky, and extremely cold. There was nothing at all that I could do.”
“It’s terribly tragic, you don’t want this ever to happen on your doorstep.”
