Following a woman’s gunshot death in Queensland, a man has been detained.
About 4.30pm today, police were sent to Robb Place in South Mackay following claims the woman had been shot.
Officers came upon her dead and a man with non-life-threatening hand injuries.
About 7.45pm, a 31-year-old male was arrested outside a fast-food restaurant on the Bruce Highway, close to Hinton Street.
Police claimed he was helping fellow officials with their inquiries and was not phyiscally harmed.
Robb Place, Paradise Street, Archibald Street, Kindermar Street and Denton Street comprised an exclusion zone.
Public members were encouraged to stay away from the area and those inside the exclusion zone; those within the zone were urged to stay indoors awaiting more instructions.
