Allegedly running at police in Melbourne with a knife, a woman in her 50s has been wounded by gunfire.
Police were summoned to investigate claims of a lady carrying a kitchen knife in a park close to Collins Street in the inner city district of Thornbury approximately 2.50pm today.
After the lady reportedly ran at a police officer, a witness informed that cop shot their gun.
Police claimed they used pepper spray before to firing a shot.
She was detained and brought to a hospital having severe thigh injuries.
Victoria Police stated the Professional Standards Command will supervise a police probe following the incidence.
