Following a deadly collision with a pedestrian earlier this year, a bus driver has been charged.
Authorities say the bus struck an 18-year-old lady on Edward Street in the heart of Brisbane just after 5 p.m. on March 8.
The bus was travelling along the street at the time.
Tia Cameron passed away at the scene after being pinned against a building.
Four passengers and the bus driver were sent to the hospital as a precaution after sustaining minor injuries.
Premier of Queensland Steven Miles posted his condolences on social media at the time.
He wrote on the app X, which was once known as Twitter, “I’m saddened to hear the news that a woman has died after a bus was involved in a serious crash in Brisbane CBD this evening.”
The 70-year-old bus driver was given a summons to appear in court today for one count of negligent driving resulting in death, after over three months of investigations.
On June 26, he is scheduled to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court.
