Rapper Nicki Minaj stated yesterday that police in the Netherlands discovered marijuana in her baggage as she prepared to leave the country for her next gig.
Minaj tweeted that she was stopped at the Amsterdam airport as she was about to board an aircraft for a concert in Manchester, England.
Police informed her that they had discovered marijuana in her baggage and that it would have to be weighed, she tweeted.
Cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands, however it is tolerated for recreational use.
According to Robert Van Kapel, a spokesperson for the Netherlands Military Police, a 41-year-old American woman was arrested for transporting “soft drugs.
“He did not identify the woman or disclose the meds involved. Police later tweeted that they fined and released the woman.
Minaj, 41, tweeted on X that she believes police were only attempting to make her late for her Manchester show.
“I warned you, they’re trying to make me late so they can write bad things. Jealousy is an illness. Minaj wrote: “You know the rest.”
Her representatives did not immediately respond to questions on Saturday.
The Trinidadian rapper is best known for her hit songs “Super Freaky Girl,” “Anaconda,” and “Starships.”
She has been nominated for 12 Grammys over her career.
The Manchester performance is part of her “Pink Friday 2” tour, which also includes dates in Paris, Poland, Germany, Romania, and Switzerland.
