In Sydney’s south, a father-of-two was struck by a car and died.
A 17-year-old kid has been accused.
At 10.40 p.m. yesterday, there were reports of a pedestrian being struck by a Ford Falcon, prompting emergency services to be dispatched to the intersection of Preddys Road and John Street in Bexley.
Until paramedics arrived, onlookers attempted CPR on the 38-year-old man, but he passed away at the site.
Witness Akariva Volitiviti stated, “We heard a big bang, we thought someone threw a brick or something.”
“The operator was attempting to calm me down, but I was panicked at the same time. then he instructed me to perform CPR.”
Minor injuries were received by the Ford’s 17-year-old driver.
Police claimed he left the scene of the collision and came back later.
After being placed under arrest, he was brought to St. George Hospital for required testing.
Police apprehended the Ford Falcon after discovering it parked on neighbouring Downey Street.
He was charged with reckless driving resulting in death, failing to stop, and dangerous driving resulting in death, according to police statements made late tonight.
Bail to appear before a children’s court tomorrow was denied to the teenager.
