Off the coast of Sydney, a group of people were saved from a sinking boat; two adults and a teenager were winched to safety via helicopter.
The moment the three were rescued from the sinking fishing boat, which was located 20 nautical miles off the coast of Coledale, south of the Royal National Park, was captured on camera during the rescue operation.
The group was quickly rescued from the swiftly sinking boat by Westpac rescue chopper after the men contacted Triple Zero.
The boy’s father made sure the teenager was pulled out of the water before being winched to safety as soon as the helicopter arrived.
A neighbouring boat picked up the second man and brought him to land.
According to reports, the three men were in the region for a shark-fishing tournament.
The dad was airlifted to the La Perouse rescue base with his son so that paramedics could examine them.
Rescuers complimented the group on their readiness.
According to Tony Waller, a representative for the Westpac rescue helicopter, “they did everything right.”
“They stayed with the partially submerged boat, and they had their lifejackets on.”
