Witnesses to an alleged attempted kidnapping of a youngster in Melbourne are sought for by the police.
A man approached a five-year-old and a fourteen-year-old boy who were strolling along Footscray’s Eldridge Street at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Monday, allegedly attempting to kidnap the younger boy, according to information provided to police.
The adolescent was allegedly hit in the face as he tried to stop the man from picking up the five-year-old.
According to police, the man didn’t leave the area until a passerby yelled at him to stop picking up the five-year-old.
He then headed south toward Kinnear Street.
The 14-year-old suffered minor injuries, but the younger youngster escaped unscathed.
