After a gel blaster was discovered on a train in Sydney’s inner south, a man has been charged.
Around 8.10 am, a train passing through Sydenham was discovered to have a “firearm” on its seat.
This discovery prompted police to be sent to Redfern Railway Station.
NSW Police said in a statement, “Police were informed a man had been sitting alone on a seat after boarding the train about 7.45am at Allawah.”
“The firearm was seen shortly after the man left the train at Sydenham and passengers alerted rail staff, who called police.”
An officer made the 3 a.m. arrest of a 43-year-old male at a Carlton house.
He was accused of having an unauthorized handgun in his possession and of entering or departing a restricted location without a ticket.
He is scheduled to appear in Sutherland Local Court today after being denied bail.
Toy weapons that resemble real ones and discharge pellets made of water are called gel blasters. That’s against the law in NSW.
Police stated on their website that “there is no legitimate reason to possess or use a Gel Blaster in NSW.”
