A teenage criminal who attacked a stranger and started a chaotic fight outside Melbourne’s Crown Casino has admitted to carrying out more violent assaults that same evening.
The moment 19-year-old Levi Terepo lunged at a passerby who called him “gutless” for bothering a homeless guy is captured on CCTV footage of the rampage that has been made public.
Terepo is shown in the video struggling to return to his hotel while suffering from a broken hip and ankle. Terepo’s pals are shown swarming on him and punching and stomping on him for fifteen seconds.
The 21-year-old Terepo has admitted to the violent outburst that occurred that same night with two other people.
One of those, which happened an hour or so later, was also caught on camera.
In one film, he is seen striking a woman across the face for trying to interfere and throwing another stranger to the ground within the Crown food court.
Terepo’s attorney told the court that his client was merely an innocent young man who succumbed to alcohol misuse, placing some of the blame for the offence on his difficult background.
Given the nature of the offence, the prosecution is arguing to the judge that jail time is the only suitable punishment.
Per Terepo’s attorney, he has shown sincere regret and is willing to participate in a treatment plan.
Valiant Farquhar, a kickboxer from Brisbane, and one other person have also entered guilty pleas to their roles in the attacks.
Their sentencing is scheduled for a later time.
