Following the discovery of an elderly husband and woman dead at their northeast Melbourne home, neighbours have expressed their dismay.
Around 9.30 am, the elderly couple Doyne and Marlene Caspersz were discovered outside their Warrandyte house on Antigoni Court.
The cause of the fatalities is yet unknown to the police.
Although they don’t think there was foul play between the pair, the postmortem results will need to be verified.
According to neighbours, the pair was discovered in their driveway, both inside and beside the car.
The two, who were in their nineties, had spent twenty-five years living on the streets.
Doyne served as vice president of the Burgher Association, an organisation that advocates for the ethnic Sri Lankan community in Australia.
He and his spouse are recognised as essential members of the community.
Their grieving son talked to detectives at the residence today.
The neighbours are shocked by their unexpected and mysterious deaths.
Neighbour Don Savoria said, “I would love them to find out what it was, whether it was a heart attack or whatever.”
It would ease my anxiety.
